2012 World Champion

In 2011 Mike Major rode Black Hope Stik (a daughter of Smart Whiskey Doc) and became the Open Reserve Champion on her. Mike says, "This mare is great! She responds to anything I ask out of her."

A Winning Weekend

Cowboy Mike Major is not stranger to the Versatility Ranch Horse winner’s circle. He and his stallion, Smart Whiskey Doc, were the 2008 and 2009 world champions and were reserve in 2011. This year, Mike captured the title in dramatic fashion–tieing to with Tripp Townsend (who rode Sixes Sixgun) to win, and clenching the title with a tie-breaking working ranch run. Mike rode Black Hope Stik, a daughter of his champion stallion Smart Whiskey Doc.

Mike Major and Black Hope Stik win the ranch remuda contest at Battle in the Saddle in Oklahoma City

Mike Major knows a little bit about ranch horses. For the last two years, the cowboy from Fowler, Colorado, has been the world champion in versatility ranch horse. He added to his prize bucket at Battle in the Saddle with a win in the ranch remuda contest.
